The mystery of low prices: how Gamsgo cuts Netflix prices
We were intrigued by this particularly attractive offer and decided to give it a try. However, as soon as we set foot on the platform, we noticed certain irregularities in the procedures in place, compromising the long-term viability of subscriptions.
Gamsgo seems to have found a “miracle” solution for offering subscriptions at rock-bottom prices. Indeed, after logging into our first Netflix subscription purchased on the platform, we quickly noticed that it was not purchased in France but in Turkey, and paid for the entire account at a price lower than our purchase cost. We inevitably felt a little cheated.
A subscription-sharing site?
On retesting, we also see that the connecting emails (Netflix for example) don’t belong to normal users who would share, but are linked to internet domains that appear to be connected to the Gamsgo company itself. It’s only a short step to thinking that Gamsgo itself buys subscriptions abroad in order to benefit from reduced rates, then resells them for a commercial profit – contrary to Netflix’s policy.
Although it’s not certain, we’re entitled to wonder where the subscriptions offered for sharing come from. On sites like Sharesub and other competitors, users share their subscriptions in exchange for reimbursement of their costs. On Gamsgo, however, there is no possibility of offering a subscription. The question of the origin of subscriptions therefore remains unanswered, and raises an essential issue: the durability of the subscriptions offered on the platform. How can we guarantee a reliable, long-lasting service if these subscriptions, obtained via non-compliant means, risk being interrupted at any time? And will foreign accounts continue to work in our country?

A company based in China
It’s often by looking at the footer of a website that we learn more about the company. But in the case of Gamsgo, there’s no explanation of who’s behind the project, and no traceability. Only a company address in Hong Kong, which appears to be a domiciliation, reveals the site’s origin. Even consulting the Hong Kong company database doesn’t reveal the company’s directors, nor does a Linkedin search. This can complicate any recourse against the company, or raise questions about compliance with the RGPD in terms of European data protection.
Here, too, it differs from the French company Sharesub, which explains on the various pages of its website who are the people behind the project, also listed in the French legal publications, and which has a Linkedin page presenting its activity.
