Before joining a group Viki
Co-subscriptions are easy to understand, but it's a good idea to check how they work before you get started. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Is it compatible with Viki?
Sharesub offers cost-sharing for all subscriptions that include a group plan. However, be sure to review the terms and conditions for sharing services, and avoid subscriptions from other countries: this may limit the available content or even block access to the account.
How are payments handled?
Your peer-to-peer transactions are processed in accordance with European regulations (PSD2): the identities of the organizers are verified, and payments are held for one month to allow for any refunds.
What happens if a member leaves the group?
Members are free to leave at any time, but will not receive a refund for the current month. This allows the organizer to retain a higher participation fee, and the available spots will be moved to the top of the list to fill the group quickly.
Should you share your password?
No, most of the time, services are shared via an invitation link or an email invitation. You then join the group using your own username and password to ensure the confidentiality of your data. In the few cases where this is necessary, a secure manager is made available to you. You may also sometimes use a dedicated profile, protected by a PIN.
Alternatives to Viki
Viki vs Netflix, Crunchyroll and Prime Video
The best service for Korean, Chinese or Japanese dramas depends on the catalogue, how fast the subtitles come out and how many screens a plan allows at once. The comparison below covers the closest multi-screen plans in the UK, with a cost per person based on the number of screens each plan allows.

Which Viki plan should you choose in the UK?
Viki can be watched free with adverts, a smaller catalogue and lower quality, or ad-free on two paid plans: Standard, 1 screen at 720p, and Viki Pass Plus, which allows 4 streams at once in 1080p plus offline downloads for some titles. Subtitles, made by Viki's community of volunteer translators, are the same across all three tiers. Only Viki Pass Plus really lends itself to sharing costs. Paid plans come with a 7-day free trial, cancellable at any time from Account then Subscription.
How the price of Viki Pass Plus has changed
The price of Viki Pass Plus stayed at £4.29 a month for a large share of subscribers for a long time. Since 19 November 2024, Viki has been raising its prices gradually, country by country and sometimes account by account depending on how long someone has subscribed: some long-time subscribers saw their monthly payment double in the summer of 2026. The plan now costs £8.99 / month, or £2.25 per person when all 4 places are used.

Increase since late 2024
The full price has risen sharply since late 2024, but sharing keeps the cost at £2.25 per person when all 4 places are used.
Viki prices in other countries
Viki charges almost the same price across the euro area, unlike Netflix. The differences mostly show up outside the euro area, depending on the local currency.
Viki promo code or subscription sharing?
Viki promo codes are rare and usually reserved for new accounts or a one-off campaign: be wary of coupon sites advertising permanent 30-40% discounts, which rarely apply at checkout. The annual plan cuts the monthly cost, but you pay 12 months upfront. Sharing a Viki subscription brings a recurring saving instead: the price is lower every month, not only during a promotion.
Frequently asked questions
How can I pay less for Viki?
The most reliable option is to choose Viki Pass Plus, the plan that allows 4 streams at once, and split the cost between the members of the group. On Sharesub, a place costs £3.42 / month, fees included, instead of £8.99 for the full subscription. The Standard plan is cheaper, but it is limited to 1 screen and does not allow costs to be shared.
What is the difference between Standard and Viki Pass Plus?
Standard gives ad-free access to the catalogue in 720p, on 1 screen at a time. Viki Pass Plus adds 1080p quality, up to 4 streams at once and offline downloads for some titles on mobile. It is the only plan that lets several people share the cost, since Standard is limited to a single connection.
How much does Viki Pass Plus cost per person?
In United Kingdom, Viki Pass Plus costs £8.99 / month for 4 streams at once. Split between 4 people, that is £2.25 per person / month. On Sharesub, free places in a group are promoted so that it fills up quickly.
Is Viki really free?
Yes, a free account lets you watch part of the catalogue with ad breaks, but new releases, some exclusive titles and the best quality are reserved for Standard and Viki Pass Plus subscribers. Subtitles, made by Viki's community of fan translators, are available on all three tiers.
Viki or Netflix for Korean dramas?
Viki focuses on a specialist catalogue (Korea, China, Japan) and community subtitles that often go up very soon after broadcast, sometimes with notes explaining cultural references, at the cost of a more literal translation. Netflix carries fewer Asian titles but a more polished translation and picture. Both catalogues shift over time: Kocowa, a service specialising in Korean content, ended its content deal with Viki in December 2025, which cut a chunk of the Korean drama and variety shows previously available on the platform.
How does sharing a Viki account work?
A Viki Pass Plus subscription allows 4 streams at once from a single account, with no separate profile per member. Use a unique password for this subscription only, and never share an account linked to a payment method you use elsewhere. On Sharesub, the organiser remains the account holder and manages access.
Has the Viki catalogue changed recently?
Yes. Kocowa, which supplied part of the Korean dramas and variety shows watched on Viki, announced in December 2025 that it was ending its partnership with the platform: those shows are now only available on the Kocowa service, which is not on Sharesub. The rest of the Viki catalogue, including its original productions and Chinese and Japanese series, is not affected.
How does Sharesub make money?
Sharesub adds a service fee to the price paid by members. It is already included in the price shown for a place (£3.42 / month). Payments are processed by Stripe, a licensed payment provider. As a financial service, Sharesub can verify organisers' identity and hold funds for the relevant period, so that a refund is possible if the month is not used.
