Does Netflix allow account sharing?

Watching Netflix videos is done on any screen, by logging into your account with your login and password. This simplicity has led some subscribers to give their IDs to their relatives so that they can take advantage of the service.

But can I quietly share my Netflix account?

Legally, there is no prohibition against giving your password to a trusted third party. However, the practice may be prohibited by the platform.

When signing up for a Netflix subscription, the platform’s terms and conditions must be approved. They do not mention any specific prohibition on sharing access codes. Netflix’s management is of course aware of this practice that has become an international sport, as the number of simultaneous connections on the same account can betray. So we can see a tolerance and consider the practice allowed, until Netflix denies this fact. This has not been done to date despite repeated announcements on the subject. It must be said that the competition between VOD services does not encourage the platforms to get angry with their users.

Caution is the order of the day

However, it is important to understand the risks associated with sharing a password. Too many Internet users use identical passwords for different sites and services.

So beware of this problem and change your Netflix password if you need to pass it on to trusted third parties afterwards. Also make sure that you are not using it on any other online service, that it is truly unique to your Netflix account.
